FOTD: Sunset Inspired (for July Makeup Geek Competition)

I did this look knowing full well that 90% of the submissions were going to be a purple cut crease. Sure enough they were, but I still think it turned out really nicely. This also marks the first time I'd used my Belletto Studios airbrush system. Which I will do a separate review of next week (spoiler alert: It's bloody amazing). Enjoy!

 Products Used:
Eyes:
UDPP (original)
Sugarpill Love+ (outer corner of lid), Flame Point (middle of lid), Buttercupcake (inner corner of lid) and Poison plum (crease)

ybf brow pencil

Benefit They're Real Mascara

Belletto Studio Airbrush Foundation in Creme de La
Laura Geller Blush N' Brighten in Apricot

FOTD: Red Death

The next couple of posts I'm going to do are looks I did awhile ago, but just haven't had time to upload pictures for.

I just wrote this whole post and then accidentally deleted it. Which sucks...

I did this look for Deepwoods Damnation. I was super excited to do a matte red smokey eye. I think colored smokey eyes are really fun, and they're a great way to make your eye color pop. I don't do them very often because they can be tricky, and don't wear well as a day to day look.

I've been going very light on my cheeks lately, I think that especially with bright colored eye shadow blush, even subtle blush tends to look odd, unless it complements the eye shadow. And really there's just not any pink or peach tones that look very good with red eyeshadow, so I just went with a gold toned highlight.

I straight up loved how this turned out. Except for the fact that my blending brush must have had some residual shadow in it, because when I went to blend out the edges of the red they turned a bit purple which I did not want. Sugarpill's Love+ is a great eye shadow, but for some reason unless I'm really careful with it, it has a tendency towards looking pink or purple on me. Either way, I still really liked the way this turned out.

FOTD: Batman

I created this look for the Makeup Geek June competition.

Also, as you may notice from the quality of these photos my camera is working again! Yay for no more shitty camera phone uploads!

The products I used for the eyes are pretty simple: I used Urban Decay Primer Potion and then NYX Jumbo eye pencil in Milk as a stickier base. Then I added Sugarpill Buttercupcake and Tako and Lucifer by Kat Von D, but you can use any matte bright yellow, black and white. I then went through and hashed out the lines with a black pencil liner and then filled in it with a pen-style liquid liner (I think I used the Physician's Formula with lash serum one). Mascara is by Benefit, I think it's They're Real, but not sure.

I suppose you could use this for a Halloween look but it seems a little tame to me for that. Although I am pretty much known for going totally crazy on Halloween.

Enjoy!

Makeup vs. Work Round 2: Fight!

So today I did this look, I used the BH Cosmetics Matte 88 Palette, tinted moisturizer, Milani HD Concealer, setting powder, Laura Geller Blush-N-Brighten in Honeydipped and CoverGirl Nature Luxe Tinted Lip Balm in Spice.

It's a pretty combo, but it's too time consuming for my morning. I'm thinking, since I'm quite fast at a traditional pin up, I'll just do that tomorrow. I was sort of hoping for something a little simpler, but so be it. I meant to take pictures, but I was SUPER late for work this morning (mostly because of spending the time on my makeup). I'll recreate it some other time and take pictures.

Upcoming Looks

Alrighty by a landslide vote of 1 to zero (pathetic, no?) comic book characters have won out.

This won't be your crappy "Spiderman, batman (well there will be batman), superman, etc." List of comic book characters. I'm going to do things a little different. Look for some Frank Miller's Sin City inspired looks, some Transmetropolitan, Tank Girl and more. Starting VERY soon!! As in maybe tomorrow??

Makeup last Friday.

I'm starting to get better about this. Really I am. Last Friday I did a Purple and Lime Green look, which is one of my favorite color combinations. I want to do this look again, but next time I think I'm going to draw leopard print over the purple section. Anywho, here it is!

I am really happy with the way the eyes turned out. I only have 2 blushes so I can't really say anything about that.

Eyes:
For the lid:
UD Primer Potion
NYX Jumbo eyeliner in milk, blended out
Coastal Scents 88 Palette: Column 3 row 3 and 6 mixed together

For the crease:
I used an angled brush to outline a cut crease with SugarPill Poison Plum, then a pencil brush to drag it up and out to create the shape that I wanted.

For the browbone: I used SugarPill's Tako with a big fluffy brush to blend out Poison Plum and to highlight my brow bone

For the Tear Duct:
I used NYX Jumbo Eyeliner in milk, blended out with my finger, then I covered that using a pencil brush in ELF Mineral Eyeshadow in Angelic. I dragged it up into the inner crease, and along the edges of Poison Plum.

Lashes:
Those are my real lashes folks!

Skin:
Foundation: Face and Body Foundation from MAC
Powder: Revlon Photoready in Translucent
Blush: Well Dressed from MAC

Lips:
Again I didn't put anything on my lips for pictures. I wore a clear gloss because the eyes are so crazy.

I am making this face because my bangs are so long and I obviously need a goddamn haircut.
Unfortunately I can't cut my hair until after Halloween, Winona has long bangs in Edward Scissorhands, I'll curl them but they still need to be long.

God I am so excited for Halloween, maybe I'm making that face because I want it to be Halloween already. Today I am wearing this makeup by xsparkage. The only difference is that I used both a matte black and a sparkly black in Black Tied from MAC. It has silver sparkles and I love it. Lips in Lolita by Kat Von D.

Maybe I'll put pictures up... Dunno.

Droool.

Oh my god. My house smells so good right now. I'm making Carrot Soup with Ginger and Lemonand Apple Dumplings. So the whole place smells like ginger, lemon, sugar and cinnamon. I ate breakfast kind of late, but didn't have lunch till just now. I don't think I've scarfed a sandwich down that fast in a long time.

Anyway! Day before yesterday I got a package from Sephora in the mail. It had the Kat Von D Lipstick sampler set. Oh my god. Looks like a book with mini lipsticks in it. LOVE. Soooo swatch time!!

1. Celebutard (pinky nude)
2. Cathedral (dark nude)
3. Lolita (coral nude)
4. Underage Red (light-ish red w/ blue tones)
5. Hellbent (On the darker side of red red)
6. Rosary (Dark red with plum tones)

Dude. I love these lipsticks. They are super creamy and awesomely pigmented. I hosted trivia for 2.5 hours. That's a lot of talking and only reapplied Hellbent once. With NO PRIMER! The only one it doesn't have that I want is the Adora one that's red with Gold flecks. I'm going to wear Celebutard with an orange-y gloss for Halloween. Celebutard, Hellbent and Rosary are my faves, I would love underage red a lot more if I wasn't a warm-toned kid. Blue toned lipsticks are a little tough for me to wear, not impossible, just difficult. In any event I highly recommend these lipsticks. Check 'em out.

Next year for Halloween....

I AM DOING THISSSS!!!!!

Finally Some Makeup Photos.

This look is a modification of an older xsparkage post called ElectroPop. I've used colors from the Burning Heart Palette from Sugarpill as well as some other products. All brushes that were used are from Crown Brushes.

Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion on the lid and on the lower lash line
Lid-Love+ (Bright red)
Crease-Buttercupcake (bright yellow)
I used Flamepoint (true orange) to help blend out the two colors.
Tear Duct - I put a dash of the nyx jumbo eyeliner pencil in milk, which I then covered with elf's loose mineral eyeshadow in Elegant.
Lower Lash Line/Wings- Posion Plum (I used an angled brush to create the two wings), on the lower lash line there was a sort of triangle created by the wing and the lash line itself I filled this with Parfait Amor from MAC.
Between the Wings- Jumbo eyeliner pencil in milk, covered with Sugarpill's Tako
I did a line of black liner on the lid to make my false eyelashes look more seamless I used very black liquid liner from Almay.
Mascara is Lashblastfusion by Covergirl
Falsies are Posh from NYX

On the skin:
Foundation - MAC face and body foundation N1-C48
Powder - Revlon Photoready 001 Translucent
Blush - Well Dressed by MAC

I obviously have nothing on my lips in either of these photos, but if I had I would have downplayed them cause the shadow is so bright. I think later I put on a very sheer pink gloss. One of the Covergirl fruity ones.

Please ignore my hair in both of these photos, hadn't styled it yet.

So lame.

The Naked Palette is back in stock at UD. I am on the waiting list. I can buy it. It will be gone within 48 hours. But I promised myself no more eyeshadow purchases till November, not to mention I am going to be unemployed as of next week. What to do what to do....

Like most makeup/beauty geeks I subscribe to most of the newsletters from my favorite makeup companies: MAC, Sephora, Urban Decay etc. A few weeks ago I got the newsletter from Sephora including a very....ehm, provocative picture. I started to laugh uncontrollably when I saw this:

Now maybe it is just that I have a 12 year olds sense of humor, perhaps even a perverted 12 year old sense of humor. But if you can tell me that doesn't remind you of the most horrific cumshot in a porn, then you've either never seen one, or you are lying to yourself.

Upon viewing I immediately turned to my boyfriend, who is a graphic designer and is one of 4 people who run global marketing for a very large company, and asked "What do you think when you see this?" Now maybe it's because we are both completely sick in the head, a fact that neither of us would argue, but we both agreed. He followed by telling me that everybody in the marketing division of Sephora as well as the individual label probably had the same thought. So obviously I needed to do further investigation. The ad was for Dr. Dennis Gross skincare. The original picture they had of him is now gone, replaced by one that looks a bit less skeevy, what's more this ad is now gone. Further proof that somebody besides Chris and I, noticed how ridiculous this picture is.

Eminem, fitness and makeup.

New Eminem is sort of like getting fucked between your tits. You really hope it's good for them, cause it sucks so bad for you.

In other news I have developed a new obsession with xsparkage.com the makeup tutorials are awesome, but I keep checking for her normal Friday update and it's still not up. I'm sure it's just the long weekend, but I'm sort of bummed about it.

Chris and I have joined this website called fitday. It lets you keep track of your activities, foods you eat, etc. and tells you the amount of calories you can eat in order to reach your target weight by a particular time. I'm pretty excited. I think just as long as we can keep up with everything we'll be good.
